Thames Hospice, based currently in Windsor, are planning to expand due to increased demand, and will have to move from their existing premises. The have acquired a parcel of land to the North Side of the Windsor Road (the A308), backing onto Bray Lake. They are currently seeking support for this project to build on Green Belt land. The previous owner of the land, Peter Prior (of the Summerleaze Gravel Co.) previously offered this land for the new Oldfield School. It is clear that, due to pressures to produce more housing in the area, eventually this land will be built on. Its proposed use, mainly as a Hospice, would provide a greatly needed facility for the community, and a better environmental use of the land than being totally dedicated to housing.
